Dr. James Knutson

James Knutson MD is the Founder, Owner, and Medical Director of Sequoia Detox Centers. He is a Seattle native who graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine before completing a Residency program in adult psychiatry followed by a child and adolescent psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Southern California. He returned to the Seattle area and worked in private practice before becoming interested in clinical research and establishing Core Clinical Research (CCR). He has been owner and Principal Investigator for CCR and conducted over 250 clinical trials. Dr K has had a special interest in addiction medicine for the past 25 years and has worked in acute detox since 2012. His passion to help people struggling with addiction find a path to wellness inspired him to establish Sequoia Detox Centers. Dr Knutson believes every person is unique and that there “isn’t only one way to get sober”. He lives on the Eastside of Seattle with his family and enjoys travel, cycling, hiking, and golf.

It is medically assisted but they do not force medication you do not want. The food was all catered. They are a private doctor owned facility and the people are really there to help. While the private rooms and other amenities are great, the comprehensive and personalized medical care from Dr. Knutsen, the counselor, pharmacist, and RN/CNAs are the true reason for the 5 star rating.
